About
After teaching for over 10 years for several Dance Schools, Theatre Schools, Colleges, and Companies, and following the arrival of my second child, I finally decided to set up my own business. With experience teaching 3-year-olds to adults in a mixture of genres, from Pre-School Ballet to BTEC Students to Hen Parties and Wedding Couples, this was an exciting prospect.
Due to being around a lot of pre-schoolers with my daughter and friends, and loving watching them grow and develop, I started classes in September 2011 under the name of Tippy Toes, focussing on pre-school Ballet classes. These Tippy Toes classes soon grew covering Ashford, Canterbury, Faversham, Herne Bay, and Whitstable. Due to the fact they were all pre-school classes, as the children grew and went to school we soon had a natural demand for older classes after school and on Saturday mornings. This is where Reactive Dance started in January 2012, soon becoming Miss Sophie’s Dance Academy, with all after-school and weekend classes based at the newly opened West Faversham Community Centre. Classes started off in Ballet and Tap with Street following quickly after, and now growing with Musical Theatre and Modern, Jazz, Contemporary. We soon started to offer a more upbeat class for pre-schoolers too with Mini Groovers and Mini Tappers, which has now evolved into our Mini Tap, Street and Acro combined class and also Mini Musical Theatre.
We have now grown from just me to six other experienced teachers, including our most recent addition, Miss Luicia, who trained right here at MSDA.
We also currently visit multiple nurseries across Faversham and Whitstable weekly, offering the children extra activities outside of their daily routine.
We now have a pupil list of over 500 students with new classes and opportunities often presented to our students, from pre schoolers through to adults, including our fabulous competition team who are often out at weekends competing under the MSDA banner and who frequently bring home silverware!
We are always on the lookout for experienced Teachers to bring something fresh to Miss Sophie’s Dance Academy.
Miss Sophie, Principal
