Classes
Here at Miss Sophie’s Dance Academy, we want to ensure that you and your child love dancing. We approach classes with an attitude of fun to make sure that dancing is accessible to all.
We work towards yearly exams with the IDTA for which we achieve excellent results and we enjoy creating annual shows which we perform in local theatres.
As we expand as a school, we are frequently introducing new classes for our older students plus new styles across the age-ranges.

We hold our Tipp Toes classes across the Faversham, Whitstable & Canterbury triangle.

We hold our school-age and adult classes in Faversham and Herne, including classes for home-educated children.

Tipp Toes
Tipp-Toes is an exciting pre-school Ballet class for children from 18 months to 4 years old.
Tipp-Toes encourages rhythm, coordination, balance, colours, numbers, jumping, hopping, skipping, galloping, and much more.
Tipp-Toes is designed to encourage babies and young children to express themselves in a fun imaginative way. The 40-minute ballet class incorporates music, song, and dance in an enjoyable and energetic manner with under 3’s in the Little Toes and over 3’s in the Mini Toes.
Little Toes (under 3’s) is a Parent and Toddler class and Parents are encouraged to join in as much or as little as they want or that is required by your child.
Mini Toes (over 3’s) is for your little one to take part on their own and parents are able to sit and watch.
All classes are structured using several props including instruments, flags, wands, scarves, ribbons, dollies, and more. We use actions songs, nursery rhymes, and television favourites making your little one’s dance experience an unforgettable time.
A three-week Taster is £15 and this gives you and your child the opportunity to decide whether ballet classes are right for you both. Usually by the end of the trial you will know whether it is for your child or not. After the trial, classes are £6 each.
Classes run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with Miss Sophie or Miss Courtney.
Mini Musical Theatre (age 2-4)
Mini Musical Theatre is a mixture of singing, movement and games, introducing preschoolers to the world of Musical Theatre which, for an older age, is singing, acting and dance. This class is on Monday mornings at West Faversham Community Centre with Miss Naomi.
Mini Acro/Tap/Street (age 2-4)
This class is an hour long and comprises of roughly 20 minutes of each discipline. This class runs on a Friday morning with Miss Emily.
Ballet, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, Commercial Street, Musical Theatre, Progressive Ballet Technique
Classes for school age children are held in: Ballet, Tap, Acro, Commercial Street, Musical Theatre, Progressive Ballet technique (IDTA Grade 1 and above) Contemporary, Contemporary Modern Jazz and Stretch.
Classes are fun and disciplined working on a structured IDTA and Acrobatic Arts syllabus.
As well as group and solo dances children will have the opportunity to take part in a yearly show, regular exams, fetes, and fairs.
We also host an annual Summer Camp plus workshop days during other school holidays.
Adult Tap
We hold Adult Tap classes and Adult Street classes on a Tuesday evening with a lively and fun group of people.
Our adult classes are welcome to take part in our annual show, although there is no pressure! We have lots of fun whilst exercising and enjoying dance.
